My sister studies in FMS and some of my friends plan to go into the institutes you've mentioned above. It is a bit tough for engineers to get into the top MBA colleges as there's a lot of competition and the institutes in a willingness to maintain academic diversity, try to incorporate other programs as well.
- If you've scored a 99+ percentile, it will not guarantee you admission. My friend prepared for the CAT 2016 exam but realized after going through the admission process of colleges that students with even 99.5+ percentile have not been called by IIMs.
- When they get a call, it's either from Indore or Shillong, which are old ones. You should know that new IIMs do make calls, but then it is entirely upon your decision and analysis whether the new ones are worth your time or not.
- You must score well in 12th, it affects the shortlisting, although, if you do have excellent CAT scores then you have good chances of getting into FMS.
These days, colleges also emphasize more on a good profile- which includes not only the extracurriculars and achievements but, also all the past scores as well.
