IGNOU Public Administration material is very simple and lucid, covering the majority of the UPSC Public Administration syllabus. Before moving on to books by Mohit Bhattacharya and Administrative Thinkers like Prasad & Prasad, IGNOU material is a good starting point. The same is true for the other subjects. So, if you are reading the subject for the first time, you can go through them to get a basic understanding of it.
It is recommended to read blogs on the subject, consult standard textbooks used for the specific course at university, and, most importantly, form a study group. For serious discussion on topics, this group should stay connected on a messaging platform like Whatsapp and the social media of your choice. If you do this religiously, your IGNOU and UPSC journeys will be smooth and enjoyable!
Disciplined UPSC candidates refer to the study material of this Open University's PG program honestly.
In general, the IGNOU calculates the percentage on a 30:70 basis.
Assignments = 30
Theory Exam = 70
Initially, assignments and theory will be graded out of 100. Then it will be converted based on the ratio. So, 30% of the total assignment marks and 70% of the theory exam, both marks are totaled into one.
The percentage is calculated by dividing total marks by the number of subjects, which is 309.7/5= 61.94.
So that's how the marks or percentage or grade calculation works.
Your CGPA is considered only if you are looking for higher study prospects. Most universities have a minimum percentage of eligibility criteria. Most foreign universities ask for 75% while Indian universities ask for 55%. So if higher studies are your goal then yes, a 7.82 SGPA is considered decent.
Eventually, it’s your degree that matters and not the grades. You will have the DU tag which will pave the way for great opportunities as most companies prefer DU students.
So, instead of focusing on the grades, just live your life to the fullest without sacrificing your academics.
Students should avoid completely relying on IGNOU study materials. They must prepare with the understanding that regardless of whether they obtain or do not obtain those recommended books and notes, their preparation must be fully operational and effective.
Apart from downloading the materials and studying them online, you should purchase the IGNOU Help Book for particular subjects of GULLY BABA PUBLICATION.
IGNOU assignments are the most important part of your studies.
It is recommended that you use double-sided ruled thick paper for your assignments. Leave some space on both sides of the paper so that your writing is not hidden when you stick it in a file. It is best to begin with question 1 and work your way through the questions in order. Avoid putting too much space between two answers. It is also advisable to properly write the questions and their answers. You must keep a separate file for each subject.
It is beneficial to review your classmates' assignments. It gives you a clear picture and a better idea. The Viva-Person usually asks the question based on the answer you wrote, so make sure you have revised all of your answers before the viva session.
It is strongly advised that you only purchase Neeraj Publication books and not the GPH. If you want to pass the exam, GPH is sufficient. However, if you want to learn something and get good grades, you should definitely buy Neeraj Publication books. Neeraj Publication books are a mix of direct questions answered and concepts covered briefly. This is a better introduction to the subject than the GPH.
Neither Neeraj publication books nor GPH can replace the IGNOU study material. Studying these IGNOU books will not only increase your knowledge but will also boost your confidence. You need to determine your reason for studying first and then study the book accordingly.
After completing your registration, you must provide your email address and phone number. You will receive a confirmation email regarding your application, indicating that it has been acknowledged.
After a month or two, you will receive a text message or email with instructions on how to retrieve your study materials. It is important to remember that the Study Center and the location where you collect your study materials (Regional Center) are not the same.
You can also send an email requesting that it be sent to your address, which you will receive approximately 2 months later. However, you must visit the Regional Center at least once to obtain your enrollment card and have it stamped.
Keep in touch with the institution via email until you receive what you require. I would not recommend making phone calls because it is always busy and difficult to get through.
It is a well-planned course that includes a required internship, research project, and term-end examinations (TEE). According to some practicing psychologists, the study material appears to be on par with regular university courses.
The main difference is that you can complete the course over a 5-year period, with exams held twice a year. As a result, you can write exams for 2-3 subjects each term and finish the course while working full-time.
IGNOU has two points of contact for you:
SC Study Centre: This is where lectures and practicals will be held, assignments must be submitted, and course-related questions will be answered. There are two in Mumbai: Hansraj College in Khar and Seva Sadan in Ulhasnagar.
Regional Centre RC: This is your administrative point for receiving books, issuing ID cards, making changes to exam centers, and so on. This is the IGNOU's general office in Mulund West, Mumbai, for all courses.
IGNOU PROBLEMS
The RC is sometimes unresponsive, and with a low student-to-administrative representative ratio (IGNOU has no upper limit on the number of students it can admit), it is difficult to get questions answered. To receive a response, students must send emails in bulk.
IGNOU (or RC) appoints teachers to give IGNOU lectures in addition to their regular teaching duties.
IGNOU urgently needs to address these concerns in order to maintain and improve students' trust in the system.
If your study centre does not have a specific paper size, you can use A4-size paper or assignment pages with lines marked on them. Mark the page number on your assignment and the total pages in front of your assignment, and if you submit any tables or images, mark them on your table of content.
When submitting your assignment, remember to include a copy of your assignment question as well as your name, enrollment number, submission date, course name and code, term, study centre address, as well as your address and contact number, so that study centre staff can contact you if anything goes wrong.
