Which colleges in DU allow inter college migrations?

AS
Agasthya Sen Posted On : October 10th, 2022
Studied at University of Delhi

To migrate, you must obtain a NOC (no objections certificate) from both your current college and the college to which you wish to transfer.

If you are a bright student, your principal is unlikely to grant you NOC.

If you are an average student, the college where you want to go will not give you a NOC. Justice believes that it is practically a gain for the principal to accept an average student into his college.

Let's get to the point where we migrate when there are open seats in the college we want to attend. However, CBCS was implemented at DU in 2015, and no student will be failed under CBCS.

Even if a student fails, he will be allowed to continue to the next semester. It is up to the individual whether or not he clears his paper by taking improvement exams.

So, while migration in DU appears to be simple, it is now nearly impossible.

Do colleges in Mumbai such as SPIT, KJ Somaiya and DJ Sanghavi have management quota?

PS
Prachi Singh Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
Student at KJ Somaiya College of Engineering

Management quota seats are rarely available at these colleges. Mainly, these colleges admit students through various rounds known as central admission process (CAP) rounds. These are undertaken by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.

  • If you are considering admission to either of these colleges, admission through these rounds is always on the basis of merit.
  • Usually, there are three CAP rounds carried out. Now, if seats still remain vacant after these rounds, they might admit students through management quota.
  • Management quota seats are not available before round 3. By the end of round 3, all seats in the popular branches are usually filed.

If you are planning to pursue chemical or production engineering, you can wait till round 3 is over, otherwise, it is not recommended.

KR
Kinjal Roy Posted On : March 5th, 2021
Maths major undergraduate student at IISER KOLKATA

The mathematics which the students study now at the undergraduate level is different from what they study for the JEE preparation. There are only a few courses of applied math where you will do the coding, IISER Kolkata offers one such course.

  • If you want to find out more about coding, there are several MOOCs offered by several best universities across the planet online.
  • The college environment also plays a crucial role in one's overall development, be it socially or academically, IISER Kolkata offers a good environment.

Lastly, if you would like to pursue research in Math then definitely join IISER Kolkata, or if you would like to only do applied mathematics (coding) and obtain a job then you ought not to choose IISER Kolkata.

What if I get a seat at PEC Chandigarh after the spot round only?

MS
Meena Sachdeva Posted On : May 2nd, 2021
B.Tech Civil Engineering, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

Students who get admission at PEC through spot round usually get branches like Production or Civil Engineering. It is true that classes at PEC Chandigarh begin before the spot-round selection. You will also miss the orientation program and which according to the students of the institutes are quite boring sometimes. So you may miss some of the lectures, but it is of the least concern because you will be easily able to cover up the portion that you missed out on. Your fellow classmates can help you out with the same, besides mostly introductions are done over that 1st week.

After the manual counseling i.e. the spot round is over visit PEC for registration, after that you can start attending the classes.

Is there any management quota in IET DAVV or SGSITS?

NG
Namrita Ghose Posted On : April 21st, 2021
BE Civil Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2020)

Neither IET DAVV and SGSITS have management quota seats.

IET DAVV:

  • IET DAVV is a government-funded college so there is no management quota available and there is no other option to get direct admission into the college.
  • If you want to get admission to this college, then you have to appear for JEE exams and score a higher rank to be eligible for admission here.
  • You can also apply for college-level counseling for which you need a higher rank to get selected in this college.

SGSITS:

  • SGSITS is a government-run college so there is no management quota too. This is one of the oldest and reputed colleges of Madhya Pradesh and to get admission you have to score very good marks in your JEE exams.
  • You can also apply for college-level counseling but for this, you need a higher JEE rank.
  • If you are from Madhya Pradesh itself, then you can increase your chances for admission by showing your MP domicile certificate.

Hope this helps.

Are there paid seats in Symbiosis institute of Business management (SIBM), Bangalore and NMIMS Bangalore?

GG
Gopi Krishna Goyal Posted On : March 2nd, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2021–present)

The practice of offering paid seats, also known as management quota or director's quota, is prevalent in many institutions, including various Symbiosis campuses. However, it is essential to understand that such seats come at a premium price and do not guarantee admission based on merit. This is where the admission process at SIBM Bengaluru stands apart. The institute takes pride in its merit-based admission process, which is based solely on the candidate's SNAP score.

SNAP, or the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, is a nationally recognized entrance exam that is mandatory for admission to various management programs offered by Symbiosis Institutes. The test measures a candidate's aptitude for management and is designed to assess the candidate's skills in areas such as quantitative ability, verbal ability, general awareness, and analytical & logical reasoning. SIBM Bengaluru follows the SNAP score cut-off for determining the eligibility of candidates for admission. This means that to secure a seat in SIBM B, you will need to perform well in the SNAP exam and meet the cut-off set by the institute.

NMIMS, or the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, is another reputed management institute in India. However, unlike many other institutions, NMIMS follows a strict merit-based admission process. This means that admission to NMIMS is granted solely on the basis of a candidate's performance in the entrance exam and does not involve any paid seats.

In conclusion, while the practice of offering paid seats is widespread in the education sector, it is important to choose an institute that values merit over money. SIBM Bengaluru and NMIMS are two such institutions that follow a strict merit-based admission process, ensuring that only the most deserving and competent candidates secure a place in their programs.

How is the interview at IIT Bhubaneswar for an M.Tech thermal? What are the chances that a general category guy with 3061 rank and 704 score get a seat?

MR
Mohona Roy Posted On : August 13th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (2018)

Chances are not much good as the number of seats in the thermal specialization are less (only 18) and IIT Bhubaneswar conducts a rigorous interview (half an hour to 45 minutes per candidate), within that duration you need to explain the topics on the board to the interviewers. Some of the interview questions asked in the previous year were boundary layer theory, transient heat conduction, the significance of Prandtl, Nusselt, etc.

The process for admission in the course is based on marks secured in graduation. The student must have 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in a 10-point scale in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (with a valid GATE score).

The final selection of regular candidates will be based on the combined scores of the candidates in GATE (70%) and the written test (30%). The Written Test and Interview shall be given equal weightage of 15% each.

Students in the unreserved category will be eligible to sit in the interview subject to scoring a minimum of 40% marks in the written test and for final selection a minimum of 50% marks in the interview.

Hence, an interview becomes a very crucial factor in securing admission. It is completely technical in nature as explained above it judges the in-depth knowledge of the applicant in the subject. NPTEL lectures can be useful in preparing for the interview so as to enhance the understanding of the in-depth concepts of the subject in detail. Since the analysis part of some concepts as mentioned above can also be asked. The project report is also required there so one can expect questions from there also.

Finally, the cut off of the course is around 600 hence you can expect to have a fair chance if you have good understanding and command over your subjects.
