Where do IGNOU exams generally take place at their study center or in nearby schools?
IGNOU exams are never given at your study centre. It only happens for practical and internal exams. Typically, an examinee can select their examination centre from the options provided by IGNOU during the examination form-filling process (Online).
It should be noted that there is no guarantee that IGNOU will provide you with the same examination centre you selected during the form-filling process; this may change in some exceptional cases or circumstances. If you do not select an option, IGNOU will locate your examination centre near you. It would be in the same city where you are studying by default.
It could be any government school, college, or other institution that offered IGNOU courses. This means that your examination centre can only be one of the IGNOU study centres.
What is the procedure to change the exam centre of CSIR UGC NET?
You can change the exam centre in the CSIR NET Correction window. You can follow the given steps to make corrections in their CSIR NET application form including the choice of city:
- First of all, open the official website of CSIR UGC NET.
- Then login to the candidate portal of CSIR NET through valid credentials of that candidate.
- The application form will open on the screen.
- Make sure to make necessary changes in their preference of the exam centre.
- After that Save all the changes made and then Click on the “Submit” button.
- Make sure to Download the updated application form and take a printout of the same for future reference.
NTA has made clear that they do not make corrections of the change in examination city such based on individual emails, calls or any hard copies of letters. Therefore, the candidates are advised to avail the facility of correction window only through the official website of CSIR NET.
There will be less time for the preparation of the exam. The candidates are advised to follow some basic tips like Solving previous year papers, Giving mock tests, Revising all topics and Practicing regularly to crack the exam.
How good/ bad was your experience at your CAT exam center?
One of my friends took the CAT exam, and according to him, this is how it went:
- He reached the exam centre at 12.45 PM which was quite early. Because the exam was scheduled for 2:30 PM and the gates were to open at 1:30 PM.
- Many students like him reached early, to avoid rushing in at the last minute.
- Candidates began entering the exam centre at 1 - 1:30 PM. There was no hindrance whatsoever.
- The volunteers and faculty at the first point of document verification were more cooperative as they guide you through the process.
- Remember to not carry bags, electronic devices as they are not allowed inside the centre.
- Nobody was allowed to enter after 2:15 PM.
- Shoes and slippers were not allowed inside the exam hall.
- The registration check in was a 2 step process.
- The candidates had to sit before a computer to get their image and fingerprints captured.
- The procedure was carried out to verify the identity of the candidates.
- Then the candidate had to sign the attendance sheet and had to make entries manually in them.
- Then the invigilators provide the system number where your online test will be done.
- The arrangement for a water and wash room was available close to the exam hall. So there was no inconvenience faced by the candidates.
The test began and ended on time at 5.30 P.M. without any delay. After the end of the test there are review windows open and where you could review and comment about it. So, the overall experience of the first day was really good and stress-free.
How can I change exam centers for IGNOU?
Before registering for Term-End exams, students can change their exam location which means that before registering for each Term-End exam, students must select an exam center online (it cannot be changed subject-wise). If you simply do not like your exam center for future exams, you can choose or change your exam center before registering for each semester's Term-End exams.
Since 2017, IGNOU exam registration has been done solely online. Please exercise caution when selecting an exam center. Always go to the closest exam center. Even if you select the exam centers, you may not always get your preferred location. It is subject to change due to a lack of available seats. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to change your exam location once you have chosen one.
This is especially true as your exams approach and your data sheet are already prepared. If you have enough time for your exams and need to change your exam location, please contact your Regional center as soon as possible. Please do not waste your time and act immediately.
