Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine was established in 1898 by Sir Alfred Lewis Jones. It is the world's first institution dedicated to research and teaching in the field of tropical medicine. Its mission is to reduce the burden of sickness and mortality indices endemic countries, improve human health, and are relevant to the poorest communities. The school is renowned for its excellent work in combating TB, malaria, dengue, HIV/ AIDS and other lymphatic disorders.
Liverpool School offers a number of masters and Ph. D research programs to its students. It attracts more than 600 students every year from 58 countries around the world who come to study medicine in the UK. The School’s program in immunology is ranked #120, #316 in social sciences and public health and #423 in clinical medicine according to U.S. News and World Report.
