Why study this course with us?

• Chester is an exciting place to study History Ð a Roman and medieval town with a key role in the Civil War that remains the capital of Cheshire.
• At the University of Chester, the study of history and french ranges from the fall of Rome to Cold War America. You can explore turning points in history, the Vikings, the Crusades, the Consumer Revolution, the English Civil War, the Holocaust, and minorities and migration in the 19th and 20th centuries.
• The Department currently works with the Grosvenor Museum in Chester, and currently has use of the Cheshire Record Office and the Cheshire Military Museum archives.
• At Chester, you will have the opportunity to undertake a short placement at the end of Year 2 (Level 5). Most students also spend an academic year in a French-speaking country. This allows you to split your experience of residence abroad, offering you the chance to spend time on different types of placement and in different countries.
• In your first year you will have the opportunity to study a further language from scratch.
