Newcastle University is one of the top 150 universities in world. I am a person who is planning to concentrate on the energy sector. I found this university as the best bet for that because the research output in the field of electrical engineering is very good. Plus, the course Ms in Electrical Power offered by the university had the specific subjects which I needed.
Course Curriculum
It's been only 2 months since my course started. However, the subjects that taught were really good. The assessment for each subject is designed in it's own way so that we'll be able use the maximum knowledge from the subjects.
Exams
The admission requirements can vary according to courses. For my course I only needed to took one test, that is the IELTS for the proof of english proficiency. The minimum required is band 6.5/9. My score for the same was 7.5. The key documents that I was asked to submit included my CV, letter of recommendation, and statement of purpose. The CV should not include much designs. Keep the design simple and concise. Elaborate only on the areas that is relevant for the study program. I had 2 letter of recommendations from two of my professors who taught me during my bachelor's.
Placement
In terms of career, the opportunities are pretty big. The whole world is moving to electric vehicles and extensive amount of research is going on for improved battery technologies, motor designs and it's drive technology. So I personally think this is one of the best time to enter into the industry of electrical.
Internship
No, I haven't till now.
Fees
32,400 £
Scholarship
I got the Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship of 4000£/year. The scholarship need not to be applied separately. The university will automatically consider you for the scholarship if they find your application as a good one.
Faculty
The faculty number is good. We have professor's for almost any subjects relating to the field of electrical engineering. Almost all of them are extremely polite and helpful.
Campus Life
The campus life is one of the best I've experienced so far. The infrastructure is a mix of historic buildings along with modern buildings. The whole campus is connected with wifi. The research facilities are one of the key attractions of this university. There are 4 major libraries in the campus with a number of study rooms. There is a separate building facility for sports and utility gym with a reasonable fee.
Hostel
The accomodation facility is good. You can either go for private house or student accommodation. Student accommodation is always good for socializing. For student accommodation also you can either go for a private en suite or a sharing flat. The prices are also flexible in these terms.
