As a field, sport and exercise sciences considers the theoretical knowledge and practical application of scientific principles relating to physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, biomechanics and psychology, to maximise sports performance and improve general health and wellbeing through exercise.We have built on the strengths of our well-established programmes in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences and Nutrition, together with those offered within the fields of engineering, human sciences and business, to provide a balanced multidisciplinary Sport and Exercise Science programme that enables students to obtain professional vocational qualifications alongside a degree.
