- M.Phil in Scientific Computing at the University of Cambridge is offered on a full-time basis for a duration of 12 months.
- This is an on-campus and thesis-based program.
- This program provides education at the master’s level covering topics of high-performance scientific computing and advanced numerical methods and techniques.
- The course has a research and a taught element.
- The research element is a project on a science or technology topic that is studied by means of scientific computation. The taught element comprises of core lecture courses on topics of scientific computing and elective lecture courses relevant to the science or technology topic of the project.
- There is an equal examination of the taught and the research elements of the course, which is gained by submitting a dissertation on the project and by written assignments and examinations on the core and elective courses.
- The weighting of the assessed course components is as follows: dissertation (research) 50 percent, written assignments on the core courses 25 percent, and written examinations 25 percent.
- The students also give presentations of their research work as a preparation for their mid-term assessment.
- The class provides small-group teaching on the lecture courses which includes both one-to-one and group supervision.
- The students have to give presentations on their research project as part of their mid-term assessment and have to present a poster at their viva voce examinations.
- After completion of the program, students can apply for PhD degree.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must complete a UK bachelor's honors degree, or equivalent in a related field from a recognized university
- Student’s first degree should be in science or a technology discipline, and students should be able to write code performing a science or maths application using a high-level computing language.
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or C1 Advanced-Grade A or B (with at least 193 in each individual element) plus a language center assessment.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or C2 Proficiency-Grade A, B, or C (with at least 200 in each individual element).
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 70% or CGPA 7.3+.
