City, University of London (City) or CUL as it is commonly called is a public research university and an independent member institution of the University of London that was established by the Royal Charter in 1836. The CUL was established in 1894 as the Northampton Institute and gradually metamorphosed into a university when The City University was created by royal charter in 1966.
The university is made up of five schools including the Cass Business School. CUL joined the University of London federation in 2016.
