This course is one of three taught law courses (LLM) we offer and is suitable for graduates of any background. It offers the flexibility to create your own bespoke curriculum to match your legal interests and career aspirations.
It will give you the knowledge, insights and analytical skills to enhance your career in practice, business or academia. If you are pursuing another career path, it will enhance your understanding of law and its impact on society.
You can choose from a wide range of optional modules to complement your core studies, including:
- International Intellectual Property Law
- Foundations of Public International Law
- International Environmental Law
- International Human Rights Law
In addition, you can also choose from a range of our other master's modules, with the permission of the Degree Programme Director.
Through our Legal Simulation module, you will work in small teams and be presented with a realistic scenario. You will be introduced to a variety of practically-focused legal skills, including:
- analysis of complex legal problems
- devising legal strategies
- working with the law in real-life contexts

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have a high school degreAAB including Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry or Biology, and excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking.
- For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element.
- GCSE Physics or Dual Award Science (minimum grade B or 6) required if Physics not offered at a higher level.
- International Baccalaureate 34 points with Mathematics at Higher Level grade 6. Physics required at Standard Level grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.
Indian Eligibility:
- Typically Newcastle recognizes an 80% average in Standard XII as comparable to AAB at A-Level.
- This can be awarded by:
- Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
- Council for the Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
- National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
- Various state boards
- Autonomous schools
- The actual grades required will vary depending on the exam board.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, tests required to study in the UK, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
