HPTU B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics /Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship and Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

OR

Candidate must have passed a diploma in Engineering and Technology) with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.

Intake capacity – 60 / 48 / 90 (in govt and private engineering colleges)

HPTU offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree with ten different specializations. Duration of all the B.Tech courses is four years. The college also accepts lateral entry (direct admission in second year) in all the B.Tech courses for which the duration is 3 years.  All the candidates with 45% marks in class 12^th with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects can apply for B.Tech course under Direct Entry.

For appying under the Lateral entry scheme of B.Tech. program, the candidate should have a diploma/ B.Sc. with at least 45% marks.

Selection:

The admission to the first 50% of the seats shall be made on the basis of merit/rank/score obtained in JEE Main. The remaining 50% seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET).

The admission to B.Tech 2nd year degree course under Lateral Entry Scheme shall be made on the basis of merit of diploma in appropriate branch conducted by H.P. Takniki Shiksha Board. Provided that if seats under lateral entry scheme remain vacant, the same shall be filled up from the candidates who have passed diploma in appropriate branch of  Engineering and Technology from any other recognized University/Board.

Note:

• Minimum cutoff score for the admission into B.Tech course:

The indicated percentage is calculated out of the total marks assigned to the entrance test/examination. For eg, if the total marks in the HPCET entrance test is 100, then minimum of 20 marks for General and 15 marks for Reserved category candidates is to be scored for admission.  

• Relaxation of 5% will be given to the applicants belonging to SC & ST category
• For supernumerary seats under B.Tech (Lateral Entry), the candidates with Diploma will be taken first and then the candidates from B.Sc. stream will be considered.
