Ranchi University provides a Ph.D. degree in various disciplines like science, commerce, humanities. The PhD degree is for postgraduates who want to dig deep into their fields of research. It is offered in 22 specializations such as Commerce, Hindi, Sanskrit, Anthropology, Home Science, Mathematics, etc.Admission is granted on the basis of a PhD entrance test whose results are valid for one year until the next exam is held.

Ranchi University Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

• The students applying for a Ph.D. degree at Ranchi University should have completed or in their final semester of the Master’s program from a recognized University with an aggregate of 55%.
• The eligibility criteria for admission to a Ph.D. degree is through University conducted Ph.D. entrance exam and selected candidates through the exam will be further called for a personal interview round.

• The link will take you to the Ph.D. course admission notification section for the given academic year 
• New users are to register first with an email ID and mobile number. 
• Applicants are to apply on “apply now” and fill with the relevant details (educational qualification, personal contact, and other details) and upload the required documents 
• Applicants are to pay the registration fees and click on “submit” 
• Applicants are to take the print out of application fees for future reference.

Ranchi University Ph.D Entrance Examination

The date of admit cards issue and date of examination both are available in the admission portal of Ranchi University (through Chancellor Portal).

• Applicants seeking admission to the Ph.D. Program of Ranchi University shall be required to take a qualifying examination which will be termed as Ph.D. Entrance Test.
• The qualifying examination shall be of two hours duration carrying 100 MCQ marks (carrying 1 mark each).
• The questions shall be categorized into two groups i.e. Group A and Group B. Group - A: Basic concept of Research Methodology (20 questions) and shall be common for all subjects. Group — B: Understanding of the subject matter as per Post Graduation Syllabus of Ranchi University for compulsory papers of the subject concerned (80 questions).
• The cut off marks to clear this exam is 50 marks for general category and 45 marks for SC/ST students.
