Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) established in December 2010 as a full-fledged University, offers education, research and extension services in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The university is located in Pookot of Wayanad district, in the State of Kerala, South India. KVASU comprises two Veterinary Colleges – College of Veterinary in Mannuthy district and College of Animal Sciences in Pookode district.

The university offers a cluster of Undergraduate (UG) programmes like B.Sc, B.V.Sc and B.Tech  and Postgraduate (PG) programmes such as M.Tech, MS, M.Sc and M.V.Sc along with Ph. D programme in different disciplines

  • For B.Tech. in Dairy Technology, the candidate has to either give KEAM i.e. Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical, which is conducted by the Office of the Commissioner of Entrance Exams run by the Government of Kerala, or they have to give AIEEA-UG.
  • For B.Tech. in Food Technology, the selection will be made based on only one entrance test known as KEAM 2021
  • For admission in B.Sc course, candidates need to appear in an entrance test administered by the university.
  • Admission to BVSc.& AH will be done on the basis of All India Entrance Examination called NEET – UG.
  • Selection in all the post graduate and Ph.D. programmes will be done purely on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam followed by Interview and Counseling.

KVASU B.Sc, B.V.Sc and B.Tech Admission 2023

Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) offers undergraduate programmes like Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc.& AH) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc).

The university provides two specializations in B.Tech, that are Dairy Technology and Food Technology. BVSc.& AH and B.Sc. have only one specialization each.

To apply for all of the UG level programmes one needs to have an aggregate of minimum 50% marks in 10+2 level from an authorized institution.For selection in B.Tech., the candidate needs to have cleared KEAM exam or AIEEA-UG exam. For BVSc. & AH, the candidates have to go through an entrance test NEET-UG, which is regulated by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations of Kerala (CEE) and Veterinary Council of India (VCI). The selection in B.Sc. will be dependent on the marks obtained by the candidate in Entrance Test, Interview and counseling.

Key Note:

  1. Under BVSc & AH, 10% relaxation shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories and 5% relaxation shall be applicable to the candidates belonging to socially and educationally backward communities.
  2. Admission to the B. Tech. (Dairy Technology) course is regulated by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations of Kerala (CEE) through conducting Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam (KEAM) and ICAR through conducting the AIEEA-UG entrance examination.
  3. For B.Sc. (Poultry Production and Business Management), the SC/ST candidates have to pass in the qualifying examination.
  4. 5% of relaxation will be given to the candidates belonging to socially and educationally backward communities.

KVASU M.Tech, MS, M.Sc and M.V.Sc Admission 2023

The university has a number of different courses to offer at the postgraduate level, that are Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Science (M.S) and Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc).

The minimum qualification for all the masters programmes is a graduation degree in the relevant field. For admissions in all of the Postgraduate programmes, the candidates need to appear in an entrance exam which is conducted by the university. Candidates would be selected as per their obtained marks in the exam.

Key Note:

M.Tech.

  • Candidates with B.Tech (Dairy Science and Technology) or B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) waiting for their result can also apply for M.Tech. course.
  • 25% of the total seats will be kept reserved for the eligible candidates sponsored by the ICAR based on All India Entrance Examination to be conducted by them.

MVSc.

  • The maximum age limit for a candidate to apply under general category is 40 years and under SC/ST category it is 45 years. 
  • There is also a provision of Residency system under this course provided by the University. The selection under this system will be done on the basis of option and merit of the candidate.

M.Sc. Animal Sciences

  • Candidates who have done BSc (Poultry Production and Business Management) are also eligible to apply, but their selection will be dependent on the approval from the competent authority.

KVASU Ph.D Admission 2023

KVASU provides P.h. D programme to the candidates under three categories – Veterinary, Biosciences and Climate Change in Animal Agriculture. Candidates willing to apply for Ph.D programme must have at least minimum percentage of marks or the minimum OGPA in the Master’s degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university. The criteria for selecting the candidates is – the qualifying degree marks, a written entrance test and an interview conducted by the university.

Ph. D. (Climate Change in Animal Agriculture) M.V.Sc/M.S (Integrated) CCA /  post graduate degree in Agriculture Sciences or Fisheriesor M.Sc Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences with minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST category) marks or equivalent. Candidates with OGPA are also eligible to apply.

Key Note:

  • If a candidate obtains a minimum of 40% marks in the entrance test, then only he/she will be considered for admission. For SC/ST category, the minimum qualifying marks are 30%. 

Veterinary Subjects

  • Candidates from SC/ST category need to have OGPA of 7.0/10 or an equivalent for applying to any of the PhD specializations. 
  • The candidates also have to produce attested copy of the final mark sheet on or before August 22, 2021.
  • While filling the application form, the candidate also has to upload a file which will have all the details of the project proposal (which should be in DOC/DOCX/PDF format). The size of the file should not exceed 500 kb.
  • In addition to the file containing details of the project proposal, the candidate also has to upload a file of the papers published in the past, while filling the application form. 
  • Sign the hard copy of the details of the papers published and send it along with the hard copy of the application form. 
  • The hardcopy of the details of the papers published, signed by the candidates should be sent with the hard copy of the application.

Biosciences

  • Candidates with the following advantages will be exempted from appearing in the entrance test:
  1. If the candidate has cleared U.G.C./C.S.I.R/ICAR test or possesses an M.Phil. degree by research and thesis.
  2. A college/ university teacher who has 2 years of teaching experience.
  3. If the candidate has qualified the Kerala State Level Eligibility Test.
  4. Those scientists who are working in approved Research Laboratories which are either owned/ managed by the Central or State Government or an autonomous Research Institution of National Status. These aspirants should also have an experience of 5 years in the grade of Scientist with a minimum of 2 research papers published in the recognized research journals of the specialization subject.
  5. Those scientists/physicians who are working in Pharmaceuticals/Hospitals/Research Centre’s which are owned by the govt. with an experience of 5 years and have a minimum of 2 research papers published. 
  • Candidates from the SC/ST category have a provision of exemption of 5% in the overall marks in the master’s program when applying for the Ph.D. course.

Climate Change in Animal Agriculture

  • The candidates who are currently working must have reviewed at least two research papers before applying.

KVASU Application Process 2023

  1. To apply for any of the above programmes, candidates need to make online application on the official admission website of KVASU.
  2. Upload the passport size colour photograph (150WX200H pixels) and signature (250WX90H pixels), both of which should not exceed 30kb size.
  3. For making the payment of the application fee, the candidate will have two options:
  • Demand Draft
  1. Before filling the application form, make the demand draft of INR 1000 for the general category and INR 500/- for SC/ST category, in favour of Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode, Wayanad payable at Kalpetta, from any nationalized bank.
  2. The applicant also has to fill the details of the demand draft in the application form.
  • Credit card/Debit card/Internet banking
  1. For making the payment through credit card/debit card/Internet banking, make the online payment after filling up the application form.
  2. Candidates from the general category have to pay the application fees of INR 1020/-  (application amount and the bank charges) and the candidates from the SC/ST category(Native of Kerala origin) have to pay INR 520/-. 
  • After filling the form and paying the registration fees, the candidate has to take a print out of the form and the receipt of payment (in case of online payment) or the demand draft, and sent it to the University, along with the necessary enclosures.
  • The application form also has to be signed by the candidate at the space provided and only then has to be send to the University.

KVASU Scholarship 2023

  • Candidates of M.Tech. course are entitled to a scholarship of INR 4000/- per month.

M.S. and M.Sc. Scholarship

  • INR 5000/- per month as KVASU Assistantship will be given to the students (max. 2 students) each from M.S.c and M.S. programs.
  • The selection for this assistantship will be made on the basis of rank list which will be specifically made for this purpose. 
  • Those candidates eho will be availing any other fellowship or scholarship will not be eligible for this assistantship.
