About MCNUJC

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Jounalism and Communication is a UGC recognized institute, established in the year 1990. It is located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and was named after Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi, a great editor, poet, literateur and freedom fighter in his era. The University has two campuses in Bhopal and its other three campuses are located in Datia, Khandwa and Rewa. MCNUJC is the first academic centre of excellence in the entire Asian sub-continent.

It is also known as Makhanlal University and offers undergraduate, post-graduate as well as skill-oriented diploma courses in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Advertising and Public relations, Electronic Media, New Media, Cinema Studies, Computer Applications, Media Business Management, Library and Information Sciences and Communication Research.   • The admission in this university is only based on merit and an online interview. Though, some prerequisites also need to be fulfilled to apply for the admission
  • For any undergraduate course, the candidate must have cleared the Intermediate examination (10+2) or any other equivalent examination
  • For any post-graduate course, the candidate must have passed the graduation examination (final examination of the third year) in their respective fields. 

How to Apply?

  • Only Online applications are accepted for admission and the application is valid only after receiving prescribed fees.
  • For filling online application, aspirants must visit the University website www.mcu.ac.in or directly go to https://mcrpv.mponline.gov.in/
  • A candidate can apply for any number of programs. However, he/she must fill separate forms and pay the requisite fees for each program.
  • Online application fee for the admission is Rs. 500/- (Rs. 50/- portal fee extra) for general and OBC candidates. For SC/ST candidates of M.P., application fee is waved off only portal fee Rs. 50 is payable.
  • A candidate can apply for any number of programs. For each additional program, a separate form of Rs.300/- (Rs. 50/- portal fee extra) is to be submitted. SC/ST candidates of M.P. can apply for any number of programs with only portal fee Rs. 50 is chargeable for each program.
  • Admission to UG courses will be given on the basis of merit list prepared by adding 70% of the marks obtained in class 12th and 30% of the marks obtained in online interview. Similarly, for admission to postgraduate courses, the merit list will be prepared after adding 70% of the marks obtained in the first and second year of graduation (if there is a semester process, then the marks obtained in the first four semesters and annual examination, then in this case the marks obtained in the first two years) and 30% of the marks obtained in the online interview.
  • Admission to the Diploma programs of the University will be done on the basis of merit based on the marks obtained by the applicant in the qualifying examination. The application fee for these courses will be Rs.300/- (Portal fee Rs.50/- extra) payable online. For additional courses, the application fee will be Rs.200/- (portal fee Rs.50/- in addition). SC/ST candidates of Madhya Pradesh can apply free of cost but Rs.50/- portal fee will be payable.
  • Students whose marks are in Grade/CGPA/SGPA should note that while filling the online application form they pay attention that their Grade/CGPA/SGPA are converted to Marks/Percentage. If he/she will not fill online application form in Marks or percentage their form will be rejected.
  • University will not accept any unpaid application form; therefore, each applicant must ensure that he/she has summited the online fees and got the receipt.
  • After the interview, it will be mandatory for the selected students to submit their marksheet, caste certificate, and other necessary certificates for the admission process through e-mail account in the concerned department within 3 days as per instructions.

MCNUJC Bhopal Scholarship

  • The University grants limited merit scholarship to students who are domiciled residents of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Concession in tuition fee is given to certain number of students belonging to economically weaker section on the basis of their academic performance and conduct in the campus, and is also provided to enrolled siblings in the University.
  • Also, scholarships to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, other backward categories, and physically challenged students are granted as per the rules of government of Madhya Pradesh. 
  • Students not exceeding 25 years of age can avail railway concession facility to go to their hometown, educational tours and vacations declared in the academic calendar for both ways of the journey, and one way at the end of the last semester

MCNUJC Bhopal Facilities and Hostel

  • Hostel: The university provides accommodation facilities to the students who have come from different cities and faraway places. There are separate hostels for both boys and girls located on either side of the university. The hostel rooms are very spacious and are well-equipped with the necessities like bed, table, chair, cupboard, etc. A secure, disciplined, ragging free environment is available in both the hostels including compulsory mess facility inside hostels. Hostel have gyms enable inmates to maintain good health & fitness. The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam boys hostel has a capacity of 150 students and the Maa Narmada girls hostel too has a capacity of 150 students. 
  • Library: The central library of the university has OPAC facility, with information of around 43,000 books on a wide range of subjects from media and communication to public relations and information technology. The library is equipped with e-books, online journals, magazines, periodicals and newspapers. A total of forty national and regional newspapers are regularly subscribed to and are kept in the library archive for media and communication studies for students. Apart from this, 100 subject-specific magazines as well as those useful for competitive examinations are also made available. The library has a huge collection of research journals on Media and Communication, IT and Computers. It also has the membership of more than sixty research journals and a digital library facility is also available. 
  • Medical: A health center run by the name Dhanwantari Chikitsalaya, along with first aid and various treatment services, expert dentists is available for consultation at the stipulated time and period. The Health center provides Consultation and Treatment (OPD and IPD) under Allopathic, Ayurveda and Homeopathy with 8 beds. Also, to ensure reduced the medical expenses of staff and students of the University, the University administration provides treatment under CGHS (NABH-CGHS) rates in more than 2 dozen reputed hospitals and medical colleges. This contract provides the University with a discount of approximately 60% to 70% on its medical costs to staff and medical students.
  • Sports: The college has a sports club and the students who aspire to enrol themselves into this club, are free to do so. They even get an opportunity to represent the university at the inter-college level and even higher levels. The club has access to almost all kinds of sports and games. Inter-departmental sports competitions are organised by the University every year during the annual fest.
  • Gym: A spacious gym including fitness equipment and facilities is available at the university’s campus. It has cardio machines, weightlifting equipment, fitness classes, and personal training.
