Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics PhD Eligibility Criteria

Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Agricultural Economics/Population Studies/Law and Economics/Public Policy/Sociology with a minimum of 55% marks (unreserved candidates) & 50%(reserved candidates/residents of Maharashtra) from a recognised University is the eligibility criteria.

Selection will be entirely based on the Written Entrance Exam and Interview.

Exemption from the Written Test-

M.Phil Degree from a recognised University (Not through Distance Education).
Qualified at the UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/teacher fellowship holders.

Qualified candidates of the Written Test and candidates who are exempted from the Written Test shall be required to appear for an interview to present/discuss their research proposal/area of interest.

The merit list will have the names of admitted students with Provisional Registration.
Provisional Registration shall be confirmed upon successful completion of the prescribed pre-Ph.D course work.

Ans. Yes, GIPE PhD students avail of the facility of 3 hostels. One is for boys and 2 are for girls’ accommodations. The rooms are distributed on sharing basis.
