Admission to the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) is based on GATE/GPAT scores, an ICT entrance exam, and an interview. The entrance exam usually occurs in June, with admission forms available after April. The process, including fee payment, is entirely online via www.ictmumbai.edu.in. ICT is known for its distinguished faculty, which includes many award-winning researchers and scientists. The alumni have received prestigious awards such as 3 Padma Vibhushan, 8 Padma Bhushan, and 10 Padma Shri.
The institute is also recognized for producing first-generation entrepreneurs and academics. ICT offers a more affordable fee structure compared to IIT Bombay and other engineering institutes in Maharashtra. It provides numerous fellowships and opportunities for freeships and scholarships from the government. The college has a strong placement record, with about 90% of students securing jobs through its placement process. Companies like Reliance, Exxon Mobil, UOP, Godrej, and many others actively recruit from ICT.
Scholarships and fellowships are available from various sources, including the TEQIP fellowship, ICT Alumni Association, and agencies like BRNS, BARC, DST, CSIR, and UGC. Opportunities also exist for interest-free loans and specific fellowships, such as the Single Girl Child Fellowship.
