Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), formerly known as Nagpur University, is one of the oldest universities in India. The university at present has 39 Post Graduate Teaching Departments (PGTD), 3 constituent colleges and 842 affiliated colleges spread across 11 campuses within an overall layout of 318 acres.
Counted among the esteemed educational institutions in Maharashtra, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) was established in 1932. The university offers a spectrum of courses at UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma and Doctoral levels under the following 8 departments:

RTMNU UG Admissions 2023
The university offers various undergraduate courses programs in multiple streams including engineering, management, law, arts and sciences. For admission to UG courses, candidate should have passed HSC (10+2) examination from a recognized board of education with atleast 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate of marks. Candidates are shortlisted for admission on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying 10+2 examination.
- The university does not hold any entrance tests for the following courses.
- The admission is based on the marks scored by the student in the qualifying exam.

RTMNU PG Admissions 2023
The university offers various PG courses in multiple specializations under different department/ faculties. All the Post-Graduate courses are of 2 years duration and the selection of candidates to different Post-Graduate courses is done on the basis of their performance in the entrance test conducted by the university. The university releases a merit list on the basis of performance of candidates in the entrance test.
- Candidates are required to visit the university website and register themselves to fill the application form.
- Applicants require a valid email ID and phone number for registration.
- University shall also send notifications on the given mobile number and email ID related to hall ticket and release of merit list.

RTMNU Ph.D Admission 2023
The university offers Ph.D in multiple streams such as arts, commerce, science, engineering, medicine etc. Candidates who have completed their Post-Graduation in the relevant discipline are eligible to apply for the research courses. Selection of candidates are done on the basis of performance in the university entrance examination known as PET II (Ph.D. Entrance Test) and marks in the qualifying degree. For admission to M.Phil, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying degree and in PET I Entrance Exam.
- Candidates must have completed his/her master's degree from a recognized university in the relevant subject.
- Candidate should have scored at least 50% marks (45% for reserved seats in Maharashtra) in their qualifying degree.
- The admission process generally starts in December.

The following group of candidates will be exempted from PET:
- Candidate who have qualified GATE/SET/NET/JRF examination
- Candidate who possess an M.Phil. Degree in the concerned course from any university.
- Candidate working as a full time teacher with a minimum of 7 years of experience or an Officer not below class II rank in any university.
Admission to the Ph.D courses offered by the university is based on the PET II, conducted by the respective departments of RTMNU. The merit list of the shortlisted candidates will be issued by the university at its official website.
- The test is conducted once every year, in the month of December.
- PET-I will be of 90 minutes duration based on General Research Aptitude and will consist of 100 MCQs of 1 mark each.
- The paper will contain questions based on Analytical Reasoning, Numerical Ability and Language Competency/ Computer/ Environment/ Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation.
- PET-II will be of 2 hour duration and of 50 marks. Candidate will have the choice of attempting any 5 questions out of 8 questions and each question will be of 10 marks.
RTMNU Application Procedure:
- Candidates need to fill the university application form for the respective courses through the admission web portal available at the official university website.
- The payment for the applications is made online.
- The candidates are advised to retain the copy of application form and payment receipt for further reference.
- The printout of the completed application form has to be submitted at the university office within the stipulated time.
For UG/ PG courses:
- For admission to UG/ programs, the application forms can be filled online through the official university website. To apply online, candidates are required to register themselves on the website.
- While registering, candidates must have a colour photograph, a valid email ID and marksheet of qualifying examination. Candidates are required to fill the required details and select the ‘registration option.
- After registration, candidates will get the user name and password on the registered mobile number and email-ID
- Candidates can again login with the given user name and password to fill the application form. After filling the application form, candidates must take the print out of form and submit it to the respective college along with the required documents.
For Ph.D courses:
- Application forms shall be filled through online mode available at the website of Designated Agency and submitted to the university by post within the stipulated time.
- Duly filled-in applications should be mailed along with the certificates and and prescribed examination fee in the form of Demand Draft (DD).
- DD should be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur” and payable at Nagpur.
