Annamalai University MSW Course Details

Annamalai University provides an MSW program with a duration of 2 academic years including 2 semesters each. 

Program Structure

  • The program would comprise Core Courses, Elective Courses: Departmental & Interdepartmental, and Project. 
  • The core courses include both Theory and Practical courses.
  • Departmental Electives are the electives offered within the department.
  • Interdepartmental Electives are electives offered by other departments.
  • Students are required to take a combination of both Departmental Electives and Interdepartmental Electives.
  • There would be in-plant training/field trips/internships/industrial visits as part of core requirements.
  • Students need to complete a project in the final semester.
  • Students can also take Value Added Courses which are beyond the minimum credits.
  • Students who complete a course in the MOOCs platform are exempted from one elective course of the programme.

  • Core Courses: 65-75
  • Elective Courses: 15
  • Project: 6-8
  • Total (Minimum requirement for award of Degree): 90-95 

Attendance Requirements

  • A minimum of 75% attendance is required in all courses per semester to sit for the end semester examination.
  • Students can apply for 10% relaxation in case of valid emergencies. 

Examinations

  • Students will be graded on the basis of Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) Tests and End-Semester Examination (ESE).
  • There will be two CIA Tests and one ESE in each semester. 
  • The ESE for the first/third semester is conducted in November and for the second/fourth semester in May.
