Candidates can apply for admission by February 28, 2023, along with application fee of INR 1600. The Xavier School of Commerce (XSC) offers research in 2 areas and Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XaHR) offers 16 areas of indicative research. The Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM) and the Xavier School of Communications (XCOMM) offers research in 17 and 24 research courses respectively.
The duration of the Ph.D program is 5 years. The first year of the Ph.D program will be spent for course work, and the remaining years for completing subsequent steps leading to the doctoral thesis. Xavier University Ph.D Eligibility
- The students seeking admission in any of the Doctoral courses offered by the University must hold a Master's Degree.
- The Master's degree must be in a related Management/ Communication discipline.
- Also, the student must hold the degree with not less than 55% marks from a recognized University/ Institution.
Note: If marks are available on a letter-grade system, then, a minimum cumulative score of 5.5 on a ten-point scale is required to be eligible for admission.
Xavier University Ph.D Admission Process
- Candidates seeking admission to the doctoral program offered by XUB have to register themselves.
- Once, registered candidates are advised to wait for their name in the list of selected candidates.
- Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their past academic records as well as 'Statement of Purpose' (SOP).
- Shortlisted students are further required to appear in the Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT) conducted by Xavier University.
- However, UGC qualified candidates are exempted from appearing in X-RAT.
- X-RAT is followed by an interview and candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in X-RAT/ UGC-NET, Personal Interview, academic records, and SOP.
- Selected students are informed about their selection through an e-mail, which is sent to their registered e-mail id.
- To confirm their admission, students need to pay the required fee. Hostel rooms are allotted to the students as per their needs.
- The coursework for the students then starts as per the University guidelines, which is generally from July.
Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic records and SOPs. The shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for Xavier Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), Subject Test (if applicable), Presentation, and Personal Interview to be held in Bhubaneswar. Details about X-RAT is available separately on our website. The coursework for the selected candidates will commence from June 2023.
How To Apply?
Admission to the Ph.D program is offered on the basis of a valid score in X-RAT. Application for X-RAT can be filled on the website of Xavier University Bhubneshwar. Students who have not appeared for the UGC-NET also need to fill the same application form. These students will need to appear in X-RAT later.
Note: UGC-NET qualified students will be exempted from taking this test. The test will be followed by an Interview followed by the Selection/ Admission procedure.
- Partially Sponsored Category: Candidates, if found eligible under this category, become partially sponsored candidates. They get a particular amount of fee waiver as decided by the University.
- Full Scholarship Category: Under this category, full scholarship candidates get a full academic fee waiver.
- Scholarship (Xavier University): Academic fee of the deserving students will be waived and a monthly stipend of Rs.15,000/- will be given for a maximum period of 4 years.
