Scholarships for the economically weak but meritorious students are provided by the university. Generally, the university offers two types of scholarships through which 100% and 50% fee is waived for eligible students. The details for the scholarships given by St. Xavier’s University are given below.
- Loyola Scholarship (UG and PG) except for MBA from 2nd Semester onwards waive 100% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 3,60,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Britto Scholarship (UG and PG) except for MBA from 2nd Semester onwards waives 50% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 4,20,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Snegam Scholarship and Deo Maheshwari Scholarship (MSW only) waive 100% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 3,60,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Deo Maheshwari Scholarship (MSW only) from 1st Semester onwards for two girl students waive 100% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 3,60,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Rupa Scholarship offers 100% scholarship for MA Psychology, MSW, B.Com & M.Com from the 1st Semester onwards for 5 students with a monthly family income not more than INR 3,60,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Nihil Ultra Scholarship (UG only) from 1st Semester onwards waives 100% fees for students with a minimum 95% score in the previous qualifying examination and 75% score in the last semester of the course enrolled for along with 90% attendance to apply for this scholarship.
- Fr. Beckers Scholarship (MBA only) waives 50% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 6,00,000. A minimum 70% score is mandatory in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 90% attendance in the 1st semester to apply for this scholarship.
- Merit-based Scholarship for Science (Full) all PG Science Courses only from 2 nd Semester onwards waives 100% fees for students with a minimum 75% score in the previous qualifying examination.
- Merit-based Scholarship for Science (Half) all PG Science Courses only from 2 nd Semester onwards waives 50% fees for students with a minimum 60% score in the previous qualifying examination.
- Ravi Kant Kasat Memorial Scholarship B.Com (Hons) only for two students from 1st Semester onwards waive 50% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 4,20,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
- Dr. Dhruba Chandra Scholarship B.Com (Hons) only for one student from 1st Semester onwards waive 100% fees for students with a monthly family income not more than INR 3,60,000. A minimum 60% score is mandatory in the previous qualifying examination and in the 1st semester of the course enrolled for along with 75% attendance to apply for these scholarships.
General Instruction to Students:
- Self-attested copies of the supporting documents must be submitted along with the signed hardcopy of the New Scholarship Application form to the Office of the Registrar. The documents are listed below:
- Proof of admission (i.e. Admission & Semester Fee Payment Receipt) to respective course at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata.
- Marksheets and Pass Certificates of Secondary, Higher Secondary.
- Final Marksheet and Degree Certificate of Graduation (For PG students only).
- Income Tax Return/TDS Statement/Form-16 of parent(s)/guardian for the Financial Year 2022- 2023 i.e. ITR Assessment Year 2023-2024 or most recent.
- Bank Statement/Bank Passbook of parent(s)/guardian for last one year, i.e. from 1st December, 2022 to 30th November, 2023.
- Latest Salary Statement issued by the employer/Latest Pay Slip issued by the employer/Income Certificate (in case of business) issued by competent Govt. authority of parent(s)/guardian as per the proforma enclosed herewith as Annexure-I.
- Document(s) related to the loss of job or reduction of income (in case of business) due to COVID-19 pandemic, if applicable. Document(s) related to any previous Scholarship/Fees Concession/Govt. Aid or Assistance (if received at the last attending School/College/Institute/University).
- Letter of recommendation from the Parish Priest (for Christian Students only).
Note(s):
- Possessing of mere eligibility does not ensure grant of scholarship
- The decision of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, being the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee shall be final and binding with respect to grant of scholarship.
- Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates with regard to their selection for the above scholarship shall be considered as disqualification.
- Incomplete application with/without supporting documents will be summarily rejected.
- The scholarship committee reserves the right to review, modify or cancel the award due to changes in academic progress or general conduct of the student in accordance with the University rules and regulations.
- If the candidate is found to furnish any false information or recommended for any disciplinary action by the disciplinary committee at any stage of the course, his/her scholarship may stand revoked.
- Applications received after the due date will not be considered.
- The University shall not be responsible for any postal delay.
Other Requirements:
- In case of outstanding sports performance, besides the income criteria, the candidate must have a podium finish in any individual/team event of the national or international level.
- The candidate is expected to take part in at least one social work initiative of the University in the preceding semester.
- The candidate must not have any record of disciplinary action against him/her in any of the preceding semester by the disciplinary committee of the University.

Additional Eligibility Criteria: The scholarship offered will be revoked if the candidate:
- Fails to submit the necessary supporting documents relating to the scholarship.
- Has Arrear Papers in the first 3 semesters of the MBA degree program.
- Doesn’t have a minimum of 85% attendance in the first 3 semesters of the MBA degree program / becomes attendance debarred in any semester.
- Has any record of disciplinary action against him/her in any of the preceding semesters by the disciplinary committee of the University.
Note: If a candidate is eligible for a scholarship under multiple categories, then he/she will be granted the scholarship under only one category which has the highest amount of deduction.

Notifications for applications to apply for the scholarship are only downloaded from the official website. Apart from the scholarships mentioned above, the option to apply for different local and national level scholarships for financial aid is available to the candidates.
