Students admitted to the Upper Division program participate in a concentrated course of study that is provided in 3 or 4 semesters and requires a commitment of one to two days per week by the student to successfully meet all requirements. Nursing practice skills and knowledge are expanded to care of individuals, families and aggregate groups within the community. The nursing courses provide the basis for students to analyze, synthesize, and integrate nursing science into evidence-based practice and research. This program provides the foundation for a leadership role in nursing and is integrated with concepts from health administration, public health, and a variety of electives.?
Upon completion of the?Nursing programme taught at Monroe College?with a major in Nursing program, the graduate will be able to provide?Culturally Competent Care?(SLO-CCC)?with achievement of the following outcomes:
- Demonstrate intermediate through advanced skills and health teaching to provide holistic, individualized patient-centered care in the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems of individuals, families, and aggregate groups within the community.?
- Participate in interprofessional teams to analyze/synthesize data collection information, identify barriers to care, and make recommendations to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families and aggregate groups in a variety of settings.?
- Synthesize knowledge of nursing science and evidence-based research practice to make sound clinical judgments in the care of individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan.?
- Analyze multiple source data to contribute to practice standards and protocols which integrate quality improvement measures for the safe care of individuals, families, and communities across the health care continuum.?
- Use healthcare informatics to communicate, manage, trend and aggregate health data sets, avoid errors, and formulate recommendations to contribute to practice standards and protocols in providing nursing care to individuals, families, and aggregate groups within the community.?
- Develop the nursing plan of care in congruence with the patient?s healthcare needs, preferences, customs, values, and beliefs.?
