- The New York Film Academy Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Cinematography is an accelerated, conservatory-based graduate program intended for full-time study over the course of five semesters.
- Designed to instruct gifted and hardworking prospective Directors of Photography in a hands-on, professional environment, the MFA in Cinematography program provides a unique setting for the development of both the creative vision and technical proficiency necessary for a career as a Cinematographer.
- Students will follow a rigorous program of classroom study, self-directed projects, instructor-led workshops, and school- facilitated collaboration with NYFA students across different disciplines.
- Upon graduation, students will be proficient with many of the state-of-the-art camera systems used by professional cinematographers today, and be able to confidently supervise the creation of sophisticated lighting schemes.
- Most importantly, they will be able to effectively harness the visual tools of cinema to tell meaningful stories.

Indian Eligibiility:
- Non-U.S. residents or international applicants, for whom English is not the first or native language, are required to submit proof of English proficiency, in the form of: TOEFL, IELTS.
VISA & Work Study
VISA
- In order to study at the New York Film Academy’s NYC, LA, and South Beach, Florida campuses, students will require an F-1 student visa.
- Please note that the U.S. government prohibits studying full-time on a tourist visa.
- In order to apply for a student visa, student will need an I-20 Certificate which will be issued to him by the NYFA International Student Office.
- In order to be eligible to get an I-20 he would have to enroll in a full time class, which includes all workshops and programs except the one-week, online and evening classes.
- Before issuing the I-20 certificate oone must apply and be accepted to a program.
- After a student has applied to a program the International Student Office staff will email him the I 20 application and instructions on how to submit the required documents.
- Once they have received all the proper documents for the I-20 certificate, they will process and send out the I-20 certificate via express courier within 3-5 business days.
- They will send the student an email to confirm it has been sent and this email will include the SEVIS ID # and instructions on how to pay the SEVIS fee.
