Students who enjoy literature and are interested in growing as writers will find a major in English an enjoyable and marketable degree. Culminating in a senior project developed in close consultation with one or more faculty members, the major is designed to ensure broad familiarity with major periods and genres of American, British, and international literature, and is a way to study history and human cultures as well. A sense of community is strong among LCSC English majors who provide a number of services to the campus community, including staffing our campus Writing Center.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts that show high school completion or equivalent
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or equivalent for admissions consideration
- Some applicants will have to provide a course by course evaluation of the transcripts by an evaluation agency like WES
- SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 61 in iBT; 500 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 5.5 with 5.0 in each band
- PTE: minimum 44
- Duolingo: minimum 90
- SAT: minimum 450 in evidence based reading and writing
- ACT: minimum 18 in English
