The accomplished faculty of the German program offers dynamic attention to the diverse learning styles of students through the use of innovative teaching methods that make the German language, literature, and culture come to life in the classroom.
Students continue their learning outside of the classroom through small group practice sessions with a German foreign language assistant as well as through 30-minute conversation opportunities offered five days a week, and culturally rich programs offered throughout the semester. Interested students may choose to further their studies through the interdisciplinary German Studies program, and are encouraged to consider studying abroad in Germany for full language and cultural immersion.
The German program offers language courses ranging from elementary to advanced level, and many literature and cultural courses. While many courses are taught in German, the program offers literature and culture courses in English, as well as German, for students with little or no background in the language.

With a GPA of 3.82 on a 4.0 scale, the College of the Holy Cross requires students to be near the top of their class, and well above average.
Students the transcript should show mostly A's.
Ideally, students will also have taken several AP or IB classes to show that they can handle academics at a college level.
