The course was a STEM-certified course, the curriculum is a hybrid of supply chain and information systems. ASU is a top school, especially in the supply chain domain and the short duration of the course suited my plans. The placement rate was pretty good. Despite the pandemic, almost all of my classmates have been able to secure employment in the US. Which itself says a lot about the credibility of the school as well as the course.
Course Curriculum
The course is constantly renewed since analytics is a constantly changing discipline. The course curriculum is updated annually and is sufficient to learn the basics of Analytics. We were taught about supply chain optimization, Marketing analytics, the main language they make us work on is python for data mining applications while one course teaches R. The best part about the course is they don't assume you are familiar with coding, instead, after u get an admit you go through a boot camp for learning python. They focus on the basics of all new ML algorithms and make them strong which I really liked which helped people of different backgrounds get a clear understanding of analytics.
Exams
My GRE scores were 155 Verbal ,165 Quant,3.5 Writing. The admission process required two essays on different topics, which were about ethics and business.
Placement
The placement process is through career fairs. A lot of companies visit ASU but the major networking is to be done by yourself on LinkedIn.
Internship
The Business Analytics course has a capstone project in the second semester, where you get to work with a real company. That is a kind of internship and I have seen many of my friends and even I got a job offer from the company I worked with.
Events
Campus life at ASU is one of the most vibrant ones. There is always some event going on somewhere in the campus. The infrastructure is top class with 3 libraries and one Large gym we never really had to worry about finding a place to hang out. For business analytics since the course is offered by WP Carey Business school at ASU we had meeting rooms inside the building which makes it easier for the students to discuss and work on projects. The football culture is really good there, the sun devil arena is a stones throw away from campus and the games are worth attending.
Fees
$50,000 approx is the fee.
Scholarship
I received a nominal scholarship of $3500 on basis of my GRE Score.
Faculty
The faculty were amazing, they all had 15+ years of experience in the industry and all were pioneers in their field of work. I would like to specially mention Dr. Hina Arora and Prof Pei-yu Chen. They were the best teachers I have ever worked with. The cohort size was around 50 with all students assigned to one team of 4 students each.
Hostel
Tempe has a good apartment culture. The rent is low compared to California and other regions. The facilities are good and apartment communities are student-friendly. There are a lot of Indian as well as other restaurants around campus. The college has a free shuttle called orbit that travels around campus. That is the best way to move around tempe for free.
