It is in the state, so I would not have to pay as much tuition and the engineering program is ranked very high nationally. Also, it is a very nice campus, and the sports teams are fun to go watch. I knew I wanted to go to a big school, and U of I was perfect.
Course Curriculum
I love the classes that I'm taking right now, I am learning a lot without being too stressed. Some classes are known as weed out classes, but they are not that hard if you put in some effort and show up to class.
Exams
I took the ACT because only one standardized test was required to get into the school. I got a 34 on it.
Placement
There are lots of career fairs to help with that. I am not actively seeking out a job right now because it is only my first year of college but I do not expect any problems in the future regarding jobs.
Events
There is a homecoming in the fall, also dads weekend in the fall I have not been to any of the events in the spring because nothing has happened so far and it is only my first year at this university.
Fees
Every cost to you is basically sent out in a single bill, with many different small charges that add up to the total. Everything is at least labeled so you know you are not getting charged wrongfully.
Examination Structure
I have had a few very tough exams, but usually, it is only in one of two classes at a time so I am able to manage my time and resources and prepare sufficiently for the tests. The CBTF is also nice to take quizzes in.
Faculty
There are a lot of very knowledgeable professionals that teach at the school. They are always willing to help a student learn the material and can go above and beyond.
Hostel
I am in a dorm right now and it is very nice. It is a bit expensive compared to off-campus apartments. Next year I will be living in an apartment near the engineering campus. The dorms also just have very strict rules for residents.
