Emily Stone Review at San Diego State University [SDSU], San Diego | Collegedunia

6.5 /10

San Diego had always been a dream city for me. It's metropolitan but also has chill areas like the beach. It's a state school so as a California resident it was an affordable choice. The college campus is a moderate size and has beautiful architecture. The area the college is in feels like it's own community.

Exams :

I transferred into SDSU with an associate in sociology. I chose the business program because it fits my future career better. I want to go into real estate and marketing. The program as a freshman is 120 credits, as a transfer its 60. I have not had any exams yet and am still learning about the program fully.

Placement :

If you apply early there are many job opportunities but they are snatched up quickly by people wanting to work on campus. I believe pay is between 12-15 an hour. I estimate 30% of students work on campus but that's just a guess.

Internship :

Yes but I have not applied and am not very familiar with this process. They have an online job board that lists the jobs you apply to online. Some jobs are for specific majors but most are general on-campus jobs

Fees :

I pay around $6000 a year for my program because it is online. On-campus tuition is closer to $8000 I believe. There are scholarships available for everyone. You pay for each semester. I am paying out of pocket with no scholarships or loans so I don't know much about those. You can pay easily online or in person

Faculty :

The faculty here is hit or miss. Some teachers are very passionate about the subjects and make it easy for you to succeed while still learning. Others use outdated methods like slideshows and notes that don't keep you engaged. Overall I've had generally good professors which has helped me maintain good grades. The average class size is 30-40.

Hostel :

The first 2 years you are required to live on campus in dorms or apartments. First-year students receive meal plans and gym memberships. I chose to live off-campus because I did community college in my first 2 years. However, the on-campus housing I've been in is outdated and small.
