I chose UGA because it has the best pharmacy school in Georgia. It's also top ten in the country. I wanted to go to a school that had a strong football community as well. UGA seemed to be the perfect fit for me
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is very rigorous but that is what makes it one of the best schools in the nation. One issue I do have is the curriculum is constantly changing. This makes the standards change as well as having to work out bugs in the class every time it's changed
Exams
Sat :1540. Act: 22. PCAT : 64. The PCAT Is like the sat but for pharmacy school
Placement
In pharmacy, you can get a residency but they are very competitive. This years fourth years had one of the highest match percentages in the country. Since we are considered one of the top schools in the country. Most grads can find a job easily
Internship
We are required as part of the curriculum to do several internships but you are not paid for them. These are done in community pharmacies, hospitals and some speciality rotations. It is a learning experience
Events
I couldn't even list all the events. In the college of pharmacy. There are many organization. Each focuses on different things. We celebrate world immunization week, football games, cancer awareness/prevention days. We also celebrate individuality for our philanthropy. And a going away party for third years
Fees
The fee structure is like any other. We have our tuition ($7,000-9,000) each semester. Then we have the student fees like transportation, health centre fee, activities fee, gym fee, and I have a special institution fee for the college of pharmacy
Scholarship
No scholarships but we all receive financial aid. This is basically just a student loan through the school. Since we are maxed out on fees/tuition we can get max loans. Enough for tuition and for living
Examination Structure
Most of the exams are taken on the computer in class. It is typically taken during the designated class time. It varies between class and teacher if it is multiple-choice, true-false, or short answer/essay. The nice thing is the college works out the schedule to balance our tests so we don't have too many at one week
Faculty
The faculty are touch and go. Some of the staff are amazing and wouldn't have survived my first year without them. They care about our education and retention. Other staff though, can cause the desire to drop out.
Hostel
As a pharmacy student, I live in an apartment off-campus. It is more practical for me as I work off-campus as an intern at a pharmacy. I live with other pharmacy students and this helps because they are going through the same thing as me
