Emily Ford Review at University Of Iowa [UIOWA], Iowa City | Collegedunia

Experience at University of Iowa

EF
7.3 /10

It has a good reputation and the program has a high ranking by US News and World Report. Also, the professors are wonderful and they really want the students to succeed. The professors make sure that we are well prepared.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum sets students up for success. There is a strong classroom and clinical component to the program enabling students to master the contents. The first year is mostly classroom and the last 2 years are clinical.

Exams :

I took the ACT. I did not have to take any other tests to get into graduate school. The GRE was not required.

Placement :

There are many job opportunities in this area. Students have little trouble finding a job after graduating. It's a strong market and the school has a good reputation for producing CRNAs. This makes it easy to find work.

Internship :

NA. My program doesn't provide internships for students. Instead, they provide an extensive amount of clinical experience in the operating room and across different sites in Iowa. This is necessary to prepare.

Events :

I celebrate passing tests/exams in addition to other things. I celebrate finishing another semester, finishing a clinical, and just making it through another week. The program is challenging so you need to celebrate the small things.

Fees :

Students are required to pay the full semester tuition before the semester starts. This can be challenging because it is a lot of money to fork over at once. I have to rely on loans to finance my education.

Scholarship :

Yes, I have used scholarships and financial aid. It was difficult to navigate the financial aid process.

Examination Structure :

Exams are multiple choice and written. We also have exams that are simply drawing pictures. This seems weird but it is beneficial in the end. Exams can also be where a skill must be demonstrated such as putting in a central line.

Faculty :

I like how the faculty are actually in practice. They teach courses but also work in the operating room. I know that they are up to date on current practice and current literature.

Hostel :

The off-campus residence is where I live. I live in an apartment that is about a 15-minute walk to campus. There are not many options for graduate students to live on campus so I had to choose off-campus housing.
