Students get a good overview of the biological, psychological and social aspects of aging in Introduction to Gerontology. The average class size is under 30 students. As a result, professors know students by name and students are encouraged to meet with professors outside of class. In addition, students select a gerontology professor who helps to plan their schedules and advises them in other areas.
The gerontology program has three student organizations. The Undergraduate Gerontology Association is a service group that works to improve the quality of life for older adults in the Bowling Green community. The American College of Health Care Administrators introduces students to nursing home administrators and their facilities in the community.
