The study of philosophy can be both intrinsically interesting and valuable in helping students achieve their personal and vocational goals.
Career OpportunitiesSome philosophy majors hope to teach at the college level. But most go on to pursue a variety of other careers. Employers recognize the value of the critical and analytical reasoning skills in which a philosopher is trained. Philosophers are employed in all levels of government, journalism, business and law. Philosophy is also an excellent major for students going on to professional school in law, medicine or theology.
