Bachelor [Music Education] From Southern Utah University

Students will study with experienced educators in small classes where individual attention and learning are paramount. Studies in instrumental literature, methods, and conducting, as well as choral emphasis, with real-life experiences in area schools make this degree a valuable preparation for teaching in middle and high school band and orchestra programs.

Southern Utah University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and offers SUU students a wide array of musical opportunities that can lead to a performance degree in music or a teaching degree in music. We also offer numerous performance electives for both music majors and non-majors, in such areas as Opera Theatre, Concert Choir, OPUS [Chamber Choir], Orchestra, Band, Jazz Band, and several small ensembles. Because the SUU music faculty has an exceptional combination of both teaching and performing expertise, our students have won state, regional, and national recognition for their efforts, both at SUU and after graduation and have gone on to teaching music and professional performance careers.
