Thus, majors may elect classes in the philosophy of law, philosophy of science, ethics, political philosophy or religious studies depending on their interest and/or professional choice; or may elect a major in philosophy in combination with another discipline to give greater depth to their professional training.Student Learning Outcomes / Program Objectives

• Students will demonstrate a solid understanding of significant texts, movements, and concepts in the history of philosophy.
• Students will be able to explain and discuss philosophical positions and issues clearly and cogently in writing.
• Students will be able to explain and discuss philosophical positions and issues clearly and cogently in speaking.
• Students will demonstrate the ability to develop a cogent philosophical thesis and construct logically effective arguments in defense of it.
• Students will demonstrate the ability to make compelling criticisms of a philosophical view or argument, such as by exposing its logical weaknesses.
