Undergraduates in Human Development and Family Studies prepare for the following teacher certifications in the State of Texas through the UH Teacher Education Program. All entering students must declare as a Pre-HDFS major and will work with an academic advisor to follow an informational plan leading to successful completion of program requirements. Following successful completion of pre-major requirements, students with a 2.0 cumulative UH GPA may declare a major in Human Development and Family Studies.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and secondary school
- Minimum GPA required is of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
- Students should have a minimum of 15 credits coursework from an accredited university
- Submit SAT/ACT scores
- The average ACT/SAT score of student is around 1310 and 28 respectively.
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL iBT: minimum 79 required
- IELTS: minimum 6.5 required
- Duolingo: minimum 105 required
