Students wishing to pursue an MAE master's degree must meet the admission requirements of the UAH Graduate Studies as well as the College of Engineering. Students who are admitted to the MAE department master's program have the option to enroll in the MS in Aerospace Systems Engineering or the MSE in Mechanical Engineering. All courses in the department are open to students in either option. A beginning student files a Program of Study in one of the specialized areas of concentration (e.g. aerodynamics, materials, solid mechanics, etc). These selections are made in consultation with the faculty advisor (for students in the thesis program) or with the Graduate Director (for students in the non-thesis program). Each area of concentration may have other requirements.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must have a bachelors degree in mechancial engineering or related field from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all previous educational institution attended
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by an accredited agency like WES, SpanTran etc
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent on the last 60 hours of relevant coursework
- Applicants should have an average GPA above 3.0 on all attempts at mathematics courses taken at all prior four-year or two-year institutions that would not include a pattern of course repeats with grade replacement or excessive course withdrawals
- Submit GRE scores with minimum 155 in the quantitative section
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 18 in each subscore in iBT; 8 in each subscore of Essentials
- IELTS: minimum 6.0 in each subscore
- PTE: minimum 54
- Duolingo: minimum 105
