Students take courses in algebra, analysis, topology, complex analysis, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics, providing a strong foundation in the advanced study of mathematics that supports the development of research or professional specialties. For maximum flexibility in the pursuit of individual professional goal, the program may be completed either by writing a thesis incorporating significant research and writing in the field of mathematics, or by conducting a research project.
