• Study how society distributes resources, such as land, labor, raw materials and machinery to produce goods and services
• Conduct research and collect and analyze data
• Monitor and study economic and historical trends
• Study labor, supply/demand, determination of wages and effects of changing demographic trends
• Study the effects of government decisions such as tax cuts or budget deficits
