Film styles covered in the Digital Media Production degree program include narrative fiction, documentary, commercial and corporate productions.
Students choose from one of two concentrations: television or film. Students interested in live television study news, sports and entertainment programs in our own high-definition studio, as well as cover live events in the College’s million-dollar remote production truck. Many Kent State graduates work in the broadcasting, motion picture, video and sound recording industries.
Involvement Opportunities
TV2
TV2 is Portage County’s only local television station. TV2 reaches more than 26,000 homes on Time Warner Cable channel 16 and more than 7,500 Kent State students on campus television channel 2-2.
Black Squirrel Radio (BSR)
Black Squirrel Radio (BSR) is a student-run radio station located on the main campus of Kent State University. Known for its large selection of urban, rock and local music, BSR also showcases numerous local bands and entertainers for in-studio performances and interviews.
Kent State University Independent Films (KSUIF)
Kent State University Independent Films (KSUIF) Kent State University Independent Films (KSUIF) is a production company and student organization that creates and develops media productions. The organization gives members the opportunity to do everything required to design and produce audiovisual concepts. Every other year, the organization produces a feature-length film.
TeleProductions
TeleProductions provides Kent State University and the surrounding community with a wide range of media services, technical and instructional support and award-winning video and audio productions. Students can be paid for working on live production of university events, marketing and promotional videos, Mid-American Conference (MAC) basketball and football games, custom graphics and animation and classroom video production. Students have the opportunity to work with the new high-definition satellite production truck.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Admission decisions are based upon the following:
- cumulative grade point average,
- ACT and/or SAT scores,
- strength of high school college preparatory curriculum and grade trends.
Graduation Requirements:
- Minimum 120 total credit hours and 39 upper-division credit hours
- Minimum 2.700 cumulative GPA and 2.000 major GPA.

- Academic records: The marks statement provided by the education board after completion of the previous academic qualifications.
- Three Letter of Recommendation: A recommendation letter should include information about the student, their connection with the person they are recommending, why they are qualified, and the specific skills they have.
- Statement of Purpose - This is an essay or any written statement written by the student while applying.
- Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores and Successful applicants typically provide a score in the 50th percentile.
- Transcripts: Official transcripts from all educational institutions students have attended.
