Master of Music at the University of Nebraska is a 1-year program.

The objectives of the Master's degree are to expand the student’s knowledge and understanding of the development and structure of music in the Western World and to allow the student to develop to a high level in performance, scholarship, or music education.
It is a 32-semester hour program consisting of 13 semester hours of core requirements plus 19 semester hours taken within one of three specializations.
The specializations of the program are:
- Music Education
- Music Performance
- Individualized Study
The School of Music provides all of the advantages of a conservatory program with the features and experiences of attending a major university.
Students will receive a strong artistic, intellectual, and practical foundation for a professional career in music.
Through the diverse programming, students have the opportunity to focus on jazz, contemporary and new music, a number of world music ensembles, and traditional Western music.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale.

Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
