Field of Study:
₹7.4 L/Yr
Geography seeks to understand and solve the problems of modern society as they pertain to people's use of the earth's resources. The department's courses are especially suitable for students interested in liberal education, teaching, travel management, environmental management, field-work, cartographic and geographic information system analysis and other applied field sciences.
We offer two Bachelor's degrees in the Department. The B.A. degree is a standard Liberal Arts degree with a strong emphasis on basic skills. The B.S. degree is primarily oriented towards teachers and emphasizes teaching courses either within the Social Studies curriculum, or the Earth Sciences major. Both of these degrees may be fine-tuned towards prospective teachers. There are several options available within the degree program with three clear concentrations available to students:
- Resource and Environmental Studies, incorporating courses in Environmental Resource Issues, Conservation and Environmental Assessment
- Geographic Techniques incorporating Cartography, Air-Photo Interpretation, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Climatology and Weather Analysis incorporating Meteorology and Applied Climatology courses
Students may also consider a more general training where specific regions of the world are studied including Asia, Europe, Africa, Russia and its neighbors, Latin America and Anglo America. Within most of the courses offered in the Department you will acquire a global literacy.
