VISA & Work Study

VISA

  • Applicants who plan to enter the US using an F-1 visa will need to first complete all Admissions Office requirements for academic purposes, and then work with the International Students Services to complete data requirements for a form I-20.
  • The International Student Services will need to see both proofs of full admission and full financial documentation in order to prepare and send the I-20. For questions on the F-1 visa, US Department of Homeland Security regulations for international students or SEVIS issues

Work Study

  • FWS is a need-based Financial Aid award. It is a federally funded, university administered program, designed to help students defray the costs of post-secondary education.
  • An FWS award cannot be used to meet registration fees. Students are paid for hours worked, based on time submitted by their department through the University payroll system. They are eligible to work up to the point that their cumulative earnings equal the amount of their FWS award.
  • On-campus employment includes work performed on the University premises, employed by the I-20 issuing institution. This includes work for departments or administrative offices, graduate assistantships, as well as jobs at the University's library, recreational center, and campus labs.
