Research is a key focus of the 22 faculty members that comprise the department. From July 2011 to June 30, 2012, combined research awards to the department totaled $2.48 million, from funding agencies including NIH, NSF, EPA, DoE, ONR, and ACS-PRF. This level of research funding affords graduate students the opportunity to receive “on-the-job training” on cutting-edge research projects. The moderate size of the department creates an atmosphere of close interaction between the faculty and graduate students.

Career Profile

The training chemistry graduate students receive at WVU provides them with skills and experience in research, and communication, as well as a well rounded background in general areas of chemistry. The success our students have in finding the job they aspire to speaks to the success of the program.
