The Charlton College of Business Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program provides advanced and affordable education in accounting for those with accounting, business or non-business baccalaureate degrees.

  • The MSA program is designed to help students with accounting degrees to advance in their field and to offer opportunities to non-accounting graduates to transition to more rewarding accounting and related careers.
  • For students pursuing the Certified personal accountant (CPA) designation, the MSA program will help meet the 150 credit rule that has been adopted by all states.
  • The program will provide students with courses that are consistent with the content specifications of the CPA and Certified Management Accounting (CMA) exams and topics.
  • The program will also provide excellent preparation for other valuable accounting related professional certifications such as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • The Charlton MSA program will help advance careers, provide significant professional development, position our graduates as leaders in the accounting field while maximizing the earnings potentials

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

The students must submit the required application materials and application fee to the Graduate School. Applications are reviewed and judged on the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate degree: Official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended
  • Official GMAT (or equivalent) test score or GMAT can be waived .
  • 1 letter of recommendation: preferably from a faculty member or an employer
  • A personal statement (minimum 300 words) explaining the applicant's career goals and motivation for the degree
  • Current Resume
  • Students whose Bachelor’s degree was not earned in an approved English language country must submit either the TOEFL exam (minimum score of 80 internet-based) or IELTS exam (minimum band score of 6.5)

  • Applicants with any of these can waive GMAT requirement:
    • An earned a baccalaureate degree (or the equivalent of a USA baccalaureate degree) in any major/discipline from an accredited college/university with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
    • At least 5 years of managerial/supervisory work experience.

  • Statement of purpose (minimum 300 words): indicate your graduate study objectives, research/creative interests and experience, undergraduate and graduate experience, and business or industry experience, as applicable. The university will use this essay to assess how well your academic interests and long-range goals match the academic program to which you are applying. 
  • Resume.
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (regardless of whether a credential was earned or not).
