- The Biotechnology Graduate Program at Brown offers a collaborative learning environment that empowers students to explore their interests while engaging in rigorous scholarship alongside industry partners, peers from a range of backgrounds in the biological and physical sciences, and faculty who are at the very top of their fields.
- The master's degree program prepares students to be leaders in a range of fields including academia, public policy, pharmaceutical, device, healthcare, and more.
- Brown students may enter via the Fifth-Year Master’s Program or as outside students into the standard master’s degree track.
- The Program offers students maximum flexibility including thesis (Sc.M.) and non-thesis degree options (A.M.), a part-time track, a management track option, and a co-op program.
- The Biotechnology Graduate Program offers students hands-on experience to dive deeper into the science and industry of biotech, expanding their knowledge to make breakthroughs alongside diverse faculty with a wide range of experience.
- A minimum of 8 tuition units are required.
- At least five of the required eight courses must be structured, advanced level courses in biology or the sciences.
- Must receive a grade of B or better, courses must be taken for a grade rather than credit/no credit.
- No more than three of the required eight courses are to be used for thesis research (Graduate Independent Study).
- Students pick a research mentor by the beginning of their first semester in the program and do research for the duration of their time in the program.
- Students prepare a written thesis and present their work as a seminar for the final defense.
- Submit final thesis, present work as a seminar and pass final oral examination by Thesis Committee.
