All undergraduate business majors (accounting, business management, and economics) take the Business Core. The Core prepares students who are declaring a business major for general business knowledge and skills. The Core classes?also provide?students with an understanding of and appreciation for the intellectual discipline needed for successful completion of a business major.

These courses provide students with the common body of knowledge needed for imaginative and responsible citizenship and leadership roles in business and society, domestic and worldwide. The Business Core is designed to provide students with the opportunity to integrate their educational experience in business within a specific discipline and across disciplines.

A cumulative GPA of 2.000 in the major courses and Business Core is required. In addition, students should have completed the 100/200-level Business Core courses prior to enrolling in 300/400-level business courses.

Students must demonstrate the knowledge or skills of:

• Financial accounting, theory and practice, including revenue and expense recognition, valuation approaches, preparation and analysis of financial statements; and
• Cost and managerial accounting, including cost accounting, planning, evaluation, allocation, and the budgeting processes.
