The program is founded on the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) competencies, ensuring that students are taught the skills necessary to practice health education in any area: learn to write grants, organize communities for action, and develop health education and information materials and programs. This program offers classes in: stress management, death and dying, chronic diseases, human sexuality, prevention practices, health behavior, health communication, global health, medical terminology, patient education, reiliency, community health, and more!

If you are interested in getting involved in the department we have the following opportunities: Eta Phi Epsilon is an honorary that provides community service opportunities for Health Promotion and Education students; Students Promoting Eating disorder Awareness (known as SPEAK), raises awareness of eating disorders and promotes body positivity. If you want to gain valuable professional experience while still in school, consider completing an internship with a local clinic or non-profit organization.
