Gonzaga?s students and faculty integrate musical excellence and innovation through a liberal arts education that includes performances, festivals, tours, interdisciplinary collaborations, and research. Majors and non- majors alike combine their passion for music with pursuing lives of leadership and service for the common good. al artists enable our community, nation, and world to inspire others, to creatively seek new solutions, and to build bridges among diverse people. Therefore, we welcome all students, regardless of major, to participate in music ensembles and private lessons.
With over 700 students participating in music ensembles, lessons, and courses each semester, we present over 75 performances each year. Our students and 34 faculty passionately pursue our Mission:
- Prepare Music major at Gonzaga University for successful careers in the professional fields of education, performance, composition, church music through excellence in academic, research, and performance experiences.
- Cultivate artistic expression and aesthetic appreciation among minors, non-majors, and the Gonzaga community through performances, academic courses, and individual study.
- Enrich the Spokane community and the broader Inland Northwest through performances that exemplify musical excellence and innovation.
- Serve as a resource for musical excellence and development for educators, students, and music professionals of the Inland Northwest through institutes, festivals, and clinics.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must submit official transcripts of high school and other education attended
- Applicants must have earned a high school diploma with minimum GPA of 3.2 or equivalent in a coursework that has led to high school diploma
- Submit one teacher evaluation report
- Submit a personal essay and activities list
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Proficiency Test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in iBT;
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- PTE: minimum 56
- Duolingo: minimum 105
