Whether students desire to become a certified public accountant or to advance in the field of accounting, the Master of Accountancy degree at Missouri State provides a comprehensive, advanced accounting education that blends courses in auditing and financial, managerial, and tax accounting. The goal of the graduate program is to develop well-rounded accounting professionals who are prepared for a variety of careers in public, private, or governmental accounting.
Through the Master of Accountancy program, students will develop their research, writing, and presenting skills, which will help them become polished accounting professionals.
Students learn directly from MSU’s highly qualified faculty, many of whom are noted experts in their field.

The Master of Accountancy degree fulfills the education requirement for the Certified Public Accounting examination in Missouri, allowing students to pursue further professional distinction as a public accountant.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Overall GPA of at least 3.00 and 3.00 in upper-division accounting courses.
A competitive score on the GMAT (no other test accepted).
- Students with a GPA of at least 3.25 from an AACSB accredited school may waive the GMAT requirement.
Applicants whose native language is not English must submit scores on the internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Applicants must have completed appropriate prerequisites as determined by the MAcc Program Director. Normally, recently completed courses that include the study of FASB standards, AICPA Statements on Auditing Standards, PCAOB Auditing Standards, and IRS code will meet some prerequisite requirements. Applicants who need to complete prerequisite courses must complete them before starting graduate courses.
Applicants who do not meet the normal admission requirements, but who show an indication of high promise, may be considered for admission by the Program Director.
