While many students pursue the MPA to enhance their opportunities for promotion and advancement within their current organization, graduates of the program regularly find jobs such as policy analysts, program managers, grant writers, researchers, budget analysts, healthcare administrators, personnel specialists and law enforcement administrators. Combined with previous experience, the MPA degree equips graduates to rise to upper-level, supervisory and administrative positions within governmental or nonprofit organizations.
The MPA degree is a 12-course, 36 credit hour curriculum of study. Students may take courses as pre-service, in-service, full-time, and part-time students and through Troy Online. The MPA degree program is offered at the Global Campus site in Atlanta, through online courses, and at the Troy campus. Students with less than one year of work experience in a paraprofessional, professional, technical, or supervisory position that involves relevant service to the profession and/or public service will complete an additional three-hour internship course for a total of 39 credit hours or students may substitute the? internship course for one elective concentration course resulting in a total of 36 credit hours to complete the degree requirements.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have a masters degree or bachelors degree with minimum GPA of 2.5 from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all the previous education attended
- Submit two letters of recommendation from persons who can address the applicant’s potential for success in a program
- Submit a personal statement in 500 words addressing the academic goal, readiness for graduate school and potential for completing the course
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 81 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
